LIVE ONLINE · WRITING & COMMUNICATION · GRADES 5–8

In an age when AI can write anything, the children who can think will lead.

Over eight months, in a live class of twelve, your child learns to turn their own ideas into clear, powerful writing and finishes as a published author. Not just better essays. A stronger thinker.

WHY IT MATTERS MORE NOW, NOT LESS

Writing was never really about the essay.

Some children have so much to say and freeze the moment they face the page. And others write quickly now - with AI at their side - and are quietly skipping the very thinking that writing is meant to build. Both children are missing the same thing: the ability to form an idea: shape it, and make it their own.

Employers already know this. The World Economic Forum's 2025 survey names analytical thinking the leading core skill of the coming decade, ahead of technical fluency of any kind.

THE EIGHT-MONTH JOURNEY

Watch who your child becomes.

Each month opens a new stage of growth — and every stage keeps building on, and practising, the ones before it.

1

Idea Generator

Ideas, thinking, and planning

They stop asking what they should write about, and start telling you what they want to say.

2

Intentional Sentence Builder

Functional grammar, sentence control, and fluency

The fragments go. Sentences begin doing what your child meant them to do.

3

Organized Writer

Paragraph structures and text organization

The writing stops circling. One idea leads to the next, and you can follow it all the way through.

4

Logical Thinker

Logical reasoning, evidence, and source judgment

“Because I think so” becomes “here’s why, here’s what supports it, and here’s what would change my mind.”

5

Purposeful Communicator

Audience, purpose, and real-world communication

They write the email to their teacher themselves — and it’s the right email.

6

Original Storyteller

Voice, originality, and storytelling

You read a page and know, without being told, that your child wrote it.

7

Reflective Reviser

Revision, editing, metacognition, and responsible AI use

They can tell you what they changed and why — including which AI suggestion they turned down, and what it would have cost them.

8

Independent Published Author

Application, publication, and communication

A finished book with your child’s name on it. And a child who can stand up and talk about it.

A CURATED PORTFOLIO

Not a folder of assignments — a chosen body of work: essays, opinion writing, poetry, memoir, stories, and reflections that show range, revision, and real growth over eight months.

TEN CAPABILITIES

Ten abilities they’ll carry long after
the program ends.

These are not topics covered. They are things your child will be able to do — and explain.

1

Idea formation and meaningful detail

They know what they want to say, and why it matters, before they write a word.

2

Logical organization and reasoning

They build an argument instead of filling paragraph slots.

3

Evidence literacy and source judgment

They can defend why a source is trustworthy — and question the ones that aren’t, including AI.

4

Synthesis into an original conclusion

They hold two sources side by side and reach a conclusion that is copied from neither.

5

Audience, purpose and context

They write differently to a teacher, a principal and a younger child — deliberately, and they can explain why.

6

Functional grammar and sentence control

Grammar becomes a tool for meaning, emphasis and rhythm, not a list of labels to memorize.

7

Revision, editing and metacognition

They can explain every change they made — what they cut, what they moved, what they rejected.

8

Voice, originality and intellectual judgment

Given the same task as everyone else, they produce something recognisably theirs.

9

Storytelling to communicate

They can tell a story that makes a point — in an essay, a speech, or a conversation with an adult.

10

AI as responsible support, not a replacement for thinking

They decide when AI belongs in the work, what to reject, and what they’re willing to stand behind.

The ten capabilities describe what your child develops. The portfolio and the book show what they did with them.

THE PORTFOLIO

Eight months of work, and the judgment to choose which pieces matter.

Across the program your child builds a curated portfolio — short essays  opinion and argument writing, explanatory pieces, source-based responses, poetry, memoir, personal narratives, creative stories, real-world communication, original drafts beside their revisions, and reflections on their own growth.

A portfolio is not every assignment your child completed. Students learn to select their work, reflect on what changed, and explain why a particular piece represents how far they’ve come. That act of selection is its own skill.

WHAT YOUR CHILD PUBLISHES

In month eight, your child holds a book they wrote.

Every student plans, develops, revises, edits and publishes an original book online — a short story collection, a poetry collection, a memoir, a themed narrative, an informational book, whatever suits the writer they’ve become. They complete the whole authorship process, and then they stand up and speak about the finished work.

BOOKS WRITTEN & PUBLISHED BY OUR STUDENTS

There is a moment when a child stops being someone who does writing assignments and becomes someone who writes. This is where we aim it.

WHAT NINETY MINUTES ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE

Not a lecture, and not a recorded course your child watches alone. Every session your child writes, speaks, thinks, responds and revises: direct instruction, teacher modelling and think-alouds, analysis of real writing, guided writing, independent writing, oral rehearsal before writing, discussion, collaborative revision, short presentations, and feedback.

Participation is structured on purpose — clear routines, paired and small- group discussion, rotating individual feedback, and written feedback outside class where it’s warranted. A confident child cannot take over the room, and a quiet child cannot disappear in it.

HOMEWORK

Weekly, and purposeful. Not worksheets. Each assignment either practises the week’s skill, prepares for the next class, extends a task, or revises earlier work.

No drive. No weather. No scramble across town at six o’clock.
Your child learns from where they are.

ONLINE, ON PURPOSE

Built online — so nothing gets in the way of showing up.

No commute, no weather, no missed classes — the everyday friction that used to keep children from their best learning is simply gone. What’s left is what matters: a live, small class where every child is seen, a safe and supervised space, and real teaching in real time — never a video library, never a child alone with an app.

Live & in real time

Small, supervised classes

Every child seen

A PRIVILEGED GLIMPSE

Step inside a real class.

No staged demo and no performance — a real, live session with Ms. Manpreet Kaur teaching. To protect their privacy, only the children with consent are shown. The realness of the teaching is the whole point.

ABILITY-ASSESSED ADMISSION

We place your child by ability, not just by grade.

A Grade 5 student may already be working near Grade 6. A Grade 7 or 8 student may still need Grade 6 foundations. Placing children by age alone assumes something that is rarely true.

So every student completes a placement assessment before joining. It isn’t a test to pass or fail _  it’s how we see where your child genuinely is: how they generate ideas independently, build sentences, develop paragraphs, organize, use grammar and vocabulary, respond to a prompt, explain ideas out loud, and how much support they need while writing.

Children in a cohort don’t need identical weaknesses. They need a similar overall readiness, so the same teaching sequence serves all twelve.

If we don’t believe we’re the right place for your child, we will tell you, and point you somewhere better. Twelve places make that easy. We would rather turn a family away than take one we can’t help.

FROM OUR FAMILIES

Real children. Real change.

WHY WRITING, WHY NOW

Built on the evidence, made for the future.

Writing measurably strengthens thinking, reading, and learning - and the world your child is entering rewards exactly what this builds.

TUITION

One program. One clear price.

$299

 / month

for the eight-month program · $2,392 total

Pay monthly at $299, or pay once for the full program at $2,392. One price, two ways to pay.

This is a structured program, not casual month-to-month tutoring — the transformation happens across the full eight-month arc, not in a few weeks. Enrollment reserves your child’s place in the cohort, and we don’t backfill mid-program: the twelve children move together.

MISS A CLASS

The recording is yours the same day. We don’t run makeup sessions - the class moves as one, and that is part of what makes it work.

IF LIFE MAKES EIGHT MONTHS IMPOSSIBLE

Withdrawal requires 30 days’ written notice. And where a family genuinely can’t continue, we’d rather your child finish than hand you a refund - so we’ll move their place to the next cohort, once, so they complete the arc.

  • By enrolling my child in The Learners Pathway, I understand and agree that:

    1.  The Learners Pathway offers structured online learning programs, not a casual month-to-month tutoring service. Enrollment reserves my child’s seat for the selected program term.

    2. Monthly payments, if selected, are offered as a payment convenience and do not mean the program can be stopped at any time without notice or remaining responsibilities.

    3. Regular attendance and participation are expected. Missed classes due to illness, travel, vacations, scheduling conflicts, internet issues, or personal reasons do not qualify for refunds, credits, or guaranteed makeup classes. Recordings are provided.

    4. If I wish to withdraw my child from the program, I must provide at least 30 days’ written notice to The Learners Pathway.

    5. Program fees are non-refundable once placement, onboarding, access, or instruction has begun, except where required by law. Where a family cannot continue, TLP may transfer the student’s place to the following cohort.

    6. My child’s progress depends on attendance, effort, participation, practice, parent support, and completion of assigned work. TLP does not guarantee specific grades, scores, or academic outcomes.

QUESTIONS PARENTS ASK

Why does this program need to exist?

Many children are taught to produce sentences and finish assignments, but not to develop an idea, organize it logically, and communicate it with clarity. This program connects what your child learns on paper to how they express themselves in real life — explaining, persuading, questioning, discussing, presenting, telling a story that lands. The goal isn’t better written work. It’s a more independent thinker.

What problem does it actually address?

Children who have ideas but write incomplete or disorganized responses. Children who repeat the same point, lean on weak details, or depend on a template, a teacher, a tutor or a tool to structure their thinking. Children who can label a verb on a worksheet but can’t build a clear sentence to say what they mean. This program closes the gap between knowing writing rules and using writing well.

Why does writing still matter when AI can write?

AI produces words. Your child still has to decide what the real question is, which information matters, whether a source can be trusted, whether the reasoning holds, and whether the tone fits the person receiving it. To judge an AI response, a child needs an internal standard — and that standard only comes from having written. The aim isn’t to keep children away from AI. It’s to make sure they don’t surrender their thinking to it.

Is this tutoring?

No. Tutoring works on this week’s assignment. This is an eight-month program with a fixed cohort, a sequence that builds, a portfolio, and a published book at the end. Different thing entirely.

What if my child is ahead of their grade?

Placement is by demonstrated ability, not grade. A Grade 5 student working at a Grade 6 level is placed accordingly. Children of different ages learn together when their instructional needs align.

What if we have to miss a class?

The recording is yours the same day. We don’t run makeup sessions — the cohort moves together. Illness and travel happen; we ask families to plan the Sunday in, because consistency is a large part of why the eight months work.

How much homework is there?

Weekly, purposeful, and not busywork. Each assignment practises the skill taught, prepares for the next class, extends a task, or revises earlier work.

What if my child resists?

Most do, at first — writing has usually been the subject where they feel least capable. What changes it is being in a room of twelve where their ideas are taken seriously, and seeing their own work improve in a way they can point to. If your child stays resistant, tell us; we’d rather adjust than have them endure it.

How will I know it’s working?

Through the work itself — weekly writing, entry-to-exit growth, revision habits, how they talk about their own ideas, and a portfolio you can read. Parents see the change at the kitchen table before they see it on a report.

What if it isn’t the right fit?

That’s what the discovery call and the counselling conversation are for. If we don’t think we can help your child, we’ll say so before you pay anything.

Is leadership part of this?

As a foundation, not a subject. Children practise leadership every time they communicate responsibly, contribute an idea, listen, disagree well, and stand behind their reasoning. Intensive public speaking and competitive debate belong to our Public Speaking & Leadership Program.

How do we start?

One free discovery call, about twenty minutes. That’s the whole first step.
